Intellectual Property
“Intellectual property” is a broader term that includes trademarks, patents and copyrights. There are University policies that govern ownership of these items, as well as state and federal laws.
A provision in a contract that awards the ownership of intellectual property to another party may not only violate University policy, it may also surrender a valuable asset for less than its worth. Refer all provisions governing intellectual property to the Office of General Counsel (662-915-7014) or to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (662-915-7482).
