While the vast majority of contracts the University enters do not need to be approved by IHL, IHL policies do require certain types of contracts to be presented to the board for its approval. Items requiring board approval must be sent to IHL staff up to six weeks before a board meeting. Therefore, if your contract requires board approval, you must plan well in advance and let the party on the other side know that the process of approval will take time. Communicating this information ahead of time can prevent frustration on both sides.
